Sunday Afternoon Yoga Retreat with Katie Harris

Sunday, April 22, 2018

Need a retreat but don’t have the time? Katie Harris will be leading a Sunday afternoon taste of mindfulness, introducing MBSR techniques, Yoga and Art Therapy.

MBSR- Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is a program using the power of our own awareness through repeated practice to slow down and respond instead of react to life’s stressors.

Art Therapy is a tool for self-expression and you absolutely do not need to know how to paint or draw.

Yoga, of course, is a moving meditation used for hundreds of years to calm and unite the body with the mind.

The afternoon retreat will be dedicated to tasting these three techniques along with some green juice!

Guest teacher

Katie Harris began practicing yoga in 1989 when she stumbled into a class and found that afterwards she felt stronger, more flexible, and calmer. She has developed her own practice and draws her experience from Ashtanga, Anusara, Iyengar, Hatha, restorative, and heated power yoga.

Katie has a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from George Washington University and started working in psychiatric settlings in 1985. She is skilled in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and has a daily meditation practice. Her classes incorporate the spirit of self-acceptance in the moment. She encourages dwelling within each posture to nourish the body as well as the mind.

“I was struck by how accepting and even inviting yoga instructors are, from the first class I felt I was part of the group. “

- Jim

“Yoga has provided a foundation for me to approach life in a positive, balanced, healthy way. It’s my rock!“

- Joyce
