Amber Laurie

Yoga Del Mar Intern

Amber began practicing yoga in 2008, exploring various types of practice including Vinyasa, Bikram, Hatha, and Restorative classes. In September of 2018 she finally decided to deepen her practice and earned her 200-hour certification with Jamie Hanson Empowered Yoga in San Clemente, California. This training focused on teaching through a trauma informed and social justice lens. Amber now focuses on teaching classes that are trauma informed, with the use of sensitive and inclusive language and sequences. Her classes are intended to provide options so that the students can feel empowered to listen and respond to their own body’s cues and needs. Amber earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology as well as her master’s degree in Psychological Science from California State University, Chico. She hopes to utilize her knowledge in these areas to provide yoga classes that support students in regulating their own nervous systems, connecting with their bodies, and feeling safe in their own skin.

Amber’s classes are typically slow flow, vinyasa style classes that allow students to get grounded and connected, but also build heat and strength through gentle flows and a short standing series.
